Other Relevant SocietiesA) TERPSICHORE GREEK DANCING SOCIETYDancing is a number of things for different people. It's an exhilarating and incredibly fun group activity, it's great exercise for the body and it is one of the most expressive art forms. Greek dancing however is much more than that. It puts us in direct contact with a unique culture that has expressed itself with these same dances through the centuries. A culture in which there is a song and a dance for every occasion. The culture of people who do not philosophise about life, but actually LIVE it!If you've ever been to a Greek 'glenti', you will know what we are talking about. The Terpsichore Greek Dancing Society offers a unique opportunity to sample this culture in its most authentic form and relive the atmosphere of a 'glenti' in all it's vigour and excitement without leaving Cambridge! All this sounds interesting? If yes, come to meet us in one of our classes. Rehearsals Over 30 dancers from all over the world, with dancing experience ranging from expert to complete novice, gather every Thursday of term at 19:00-20:15 at Darwin College, Common Room to learn and perform Greek dances from all over Greece and Asia Minor. Our teacher is one of the best, professional teachers of Greek dancing in the UK. New members are always welcome and we start each term at the 'beginners' level with new dances. The classes are low-pressure and supportive, the priority is having FUN! They cost c.£20 pounds per term (depending on the number of people and the number of classes per term). This fee pays for the instructor that comes from London at every class. At the start of each term, new members can come for a trial class at £3 with no obligation (just to see if you like it!). For further information please contact terpsichore_information@yahoo.co.uk B) CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY CYPRIOT SOCIETY Cambridge University Cypriot Society is a student-run society with more than 120 members.
