Cycle Responders

Cycle responders with the East Anglia air ambulance
Cambridge LINKS can provide two "Cycle Responders" to certain events when requested - essentially first aiders on custom-designed bicycles which carry first aid and basic/intermediate life support kits, which combined are known as the Cycle Response Unit (or CRU).
The bikes are ideal for events where large distances need to be covered, such as rowing regattas, running/walking and other sports events, where they can take the place of multiple first aiders. The CRU is also regularly utilised at Duxford and similar locations, where large crowded sites are easier for a bike to negotiate than an ambulance and can respond faster than a foot team.
If you feel that the CRU would be useful at your event, please mention this while requesting cover, though they might also be suggested by the Duties Co-ordinator if it is thought that they could be applicable.
