The ENGhana team spent the summer of 2004 working with two different community areas within Ghana. The team first worked with three of the Adaklu Mountain communities in the Volta region. These communities are located approximately 15km outside of Ho, the Volta regional capital. The team then spent two weeks in the Kumbungu area in the Northern Region. Kumbungu is located approximately 40km north of Tamale, the regional capital of the Northern Region. Similarities and differences between these two regions abound. Engineering solutions will only be successful by understanding the communities and the context in which the solutions will eventually be used. Below, we have tried to provide as much information as possible on each of the communities we visited.

In addition, ENGhana has several local contacts and partners in each of these areas who are happy to answer questions as they arise. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
