Senior Organ Scholar - Joseph Fort

Joseph Fort (b. 1985) is the Senior Organ Scholar at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, where he reads Music. Prior to this he studied at the Royal Academy of Music, simultaneously holding the Organ Scholarship at All Saints, Margaret Street, London. He has given recitals at St Paul’s Cathedral, St John’s College, Cambridge, and Magdalen College, Oxford. He has performed a concerto with the Guildford Symphony Orchestra and features with other RAM students on a CD of South London organs.

Joseph studied at the Junior Department of the Royal College of Music for seven years, and played the bassoon in the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. Proficient on the piano and harpsichord, he is increasingly in demand as a chamber musician and répétiteur. He recently accompanied several members of the London Mozart Players, as part of the Cambridge Music Festival.

As a choral director, he enjoys occasionally working with professional and amateur choirs and choral societies. In March 2007 Emmanuel College Chapel Choir gave four concerts in the Mexico City under his direction, one of which was televised. In June of that year he conducted a choir of Cambridge Choral Scholars in the First International Choir Festival of St Petersburg. From October 2007 he will conduct the Cambridge University Musical Society’s First Symphony Orchestra.

Junior Organ Scholar - Jonny Griffiths

Jonny Griffiths started learning the organ at St. Paul's School aged 14 with Philip Berg. Soon after he started to play regularly for services in the school chapel, and gradually became the principal organist for chapel services. In his final two years his involvement in music at school increased, and he began to take choral and orchestral rehearsals. He also accompanied the school choir on tour to Queen's College, Oxford. Other musical interests include chamber music, playing piano, harpsichord and organ. He has been the recipient of recital awards at two successive Oundle Summer Schools. He currently studies with Nicolas Kynaston.
