The regatta will be held on Sunday 18th November 2007 between 10am and 5pm . The length of the course will be 500m up and down the Long Reach, marshalling before (upstream of) the Railway Bridge.

The idea is to have one complete division marshalling at the same time and race them downstream on the Long Reach. We will then regroup the boats and run the next set of races upstream. The crews that lost will race each other, ensuring that all crews get at least 2 races. (This is not true for one crew if the number of races in the first round is odd.)

Those crews that won both races will regroup at the railway bridge to race downstream again, and the other crews row home. This continues until the final. With this way of running the event we hope to keep the event running smoothly without many delays. Once one division has finished, another division starts. This way boat sharing between divisions is possible but boat sharing within one division is not. Let us know about any problems and we will try to sort something out.

The list of categories is indicated on the entry form. There must be at least two entries in each division. If there is only one entry in a division, that crew shall be invited to row in the next highest division, or the entry fee may be refunded.

Emma Sprints is traditionally friendly, informal and good fun. Crews in fancy dress will be given a head start, and there will be doughnuts at the finish line for all participants. All event winners and the best-dressed crew will be awarded half price entry to the cocktail party.

Emma cocktails will be held in Emmanuel College from 8pm on the evening of the competition. Tickets are priced £8, and can be bought in advance (using the entry form) or on the door subject to availability. The dress code is blazers/cocktail dresses.

The entry form and rules are available below, which should be returned to my pigeon hole (Joe Rutterford) in Emmanuel by 2pm on Wednesday 14th November. The draw will be available on the website as soon as possible after that date.

Will all Captains please note that the river will be closed between 10am - 5pm on the 19th November. Please refrain from sending out any crews except those racing at this time. Non-participating crews wishing to train over the lock and requiring access during the event should read the 'additional notes' section of the race rules.
