The Danby Society offers the students and fellows of Downing College
opportunities to discuss and attend talks on topical scientific interests.
These talks are held by some of Cambridge's most prestigious research fellows.
Previous speakers include Cambridge's Director of Research, Prof Barry
Everitt; Director of the Sedgwick Museum, Dr Ken McNamara; and leading
Astrophysicist Dr Peter Duffett-Smith.
We are committed to holding a minimum of two talks per year - although
are normally able to offer several more – along with the annual
Danby Society Dinner and Garden Party. Through these endeavours, the
Society is able to offer social and intellectual enrichment to the college’s community.
