Winter Trees

The silhouetted symmetry
The complicates the sky
The tear-drop child of tapered line
Has fallen from on high

What, two months gone, looked rich and brown
Today looks black as bone
The fortune-seeking tips of tails
Are lost and far from home

The unashamed naked form
Stands, every blemish bared
With fingers raised towards the sky
And drinks the clouds prepared

The parent of a thousand wombs
Whose children never phone
They’re sitting in their tiny tombs
And waiting to be grown
