Pottery

Don't wait for it
instead
falling as the leaves did, but more alert, rest gently
on the burning brim
prepared to float between und flurry underneath the sky
where people watch with cloistered eye
and beckon closer to the edge.

Unless of course the chill is passing, showers glancing off the spring,
no brown earthen gardens
greet the wanderer returning home.
Instead it must be said,
the light collects at break of day,
hovering beyond the blinds and creeping fretfully behind the shadowed walls.

Should streetlights flicker as you pass them by, failure will feel familiar and close
and you will remain,
more alert, but hovering with intent.
