LENT TERM 2007 EVENTS

 

Can Fundamental Principles in Jainism evolve for Contemporary Comfort? (Discussion) (please note that this event has taken place)

Our guest speaker Dr Harshadbhai Sanghrajka will be speaking on following Jain principles in the modern age. Dr Sanghrajka is the Hon Secretary of the Institute of Jainology, with a PhD in Jainism. The topic of this talk is especially important to university students, so please do come along to hear what this extremely knowledgeable speaker has to say on the subject.

The Akashi Project

 

What is climate change, exactly? Do we care? What can we learn from these different faith and cultural perspectives on one of the greatest challenges that faces us all today? Come along and find out over light refreshments at this speaker event hosted by Shilpa Shah, co-ordinator of the Akashi Project. This event will be held in conjunction with CUHCS (Cambridge University Hindu Cultural Society) and ideas on this topical issue from both a Hindu and Jain perspective discussed.

Antakshari

 

This year our annual social event gives you an excellent chance to showcase your fabulous singing talents, your extensive musical knowledge and to bring out your competitive streak! Antakshari will be hosted by a member of the CUJYS committee and feature a number of different rounds, each giving you an opportunity to win fantastic prizes. This event promises to be loads of fun so don’t miss out! Drinks and snacks will be provided. Look out for more information later in the term.

Annual General Meeting (AGM)

 

The current committee's time in office is coming to an end. Did you like the way they ran things? Have you got some new ideas which you are keen to share?

Come along to our Annual General Meeting and reflect upon the past year. Raise any issues you have about the direction in which the society is progressing and consider standing on the committee yourself - a rewarding experience where you can be instrumental in providing imaginative ways to spread awareness of Jainism in Cambridge.
