- 07/10/04 - A Link Has Been Fixed
- A clever observer pointed out that the link to the H.P. Lovecraft Library was dead. With luck, this should now be rectified.
- 07/10/04 - The Fresher's Fair is done and dusted
This year's fresher's fair went well, with a large number of sign-ups for the interested list, and now we simply need to look forward to the squash to see how many people actually make the leap towards being new members.
The plans for this term are comparitively simple, with a few one-offs of Call of Cthulhu for new and old gamers alike, a video evening showing Army of Darkness and Re-Animator, and the usual pub-meets. With luck, we'll be running those on alternating days to make sure as many people as possible can attend them. Finally, as those of you who have explored the site will know, we've a large number of posters-in-potentia sitting around. One term is going well (and we've got the original files to work with), we hope to spread the word in pictorial form.
I hope to see many of you at the Squash. After all, what's the worst that could happen?
- 01/06/04 - No delays were expected or experienced
There was no delay between this update and the last one. Anyone suggesting that there was will be taken out and have things carefully explained to them with a shotgun and 30 pounds of rock salt.
CUWoCS has in fact been active over the year, with coffee evenings and pubmeets being arranged and many of them actually occuring. The pubmeets in particular are comparitively popular, and a variety of people keep showing up. It's rather heartening, all told. The first video evening was slightly less than fantastically attended, but the blame for that probably lies squarely on the shoulders which placed it on a Friday the 13th - the day before Valentines day. Personally, I find the juxtaposition of dates to be pleasing.
The Glorious Committee is currently working on organising an AGM, a Video Evening (or perhaps Afternoon) and an Annual Dinner to take place in May Week. Anyone interested in a committee position is advised to email the Secretary with something or other and stuff. G'wan, you know you want the power. We're keeping things about next year tightly under wraps, however. The only teaser we offer is that CUWoCS poster campaigns will actually get off the ground at last, and potential example posters can now be seen from the Inchoate Depths of our Miscellany. (And yes, we're aware that there are a few typos on the samples. That's why they're called samples and not finished products.)

- 15/11/03 - Bet you weren't expecting this
Yes, it is actually true. The site has not only moved, but it has been updated too. Technically, the updating occurred a long time ago and noone noticed, but that's neither here nor there. Quite a lot has happened in the past month or so of term, and so this update will alas be far from brief.
The Squash went well, with many people signing up and many more being scared by the tall hairy person prodding them and directing them to the Secretary and Treasurer. We also, now, have a Senior Treasurer, though not yet University Accreditation. All things in time.
Finally, the CUWoCS pubmeets have been going on successfully for a while now, and are officially every second Wednesday in the Kings Street Run from 8 o'clock. The next one will be not this week, but the next. In addition to that, progess is being made in trying to get a CUWoCS poster campaign up and running. We'll keep you posted.

- 08/10/03 - Some things end and some begin
Thus is the cycle of life maintained. Well, the Fresher's Fair is officially over, and it seemed to go fairly well. Not only did we get many, many people signing up on the interested list, but we also had some entertaining conversations withthe Buddhists sitting next to us. I'm told that we also came *this* close (::mimes holding fingers imperceptinly appart::) to getting a CICCU member to sign up. Oh well.
The term is begining, and so too we have the Squash to look forward to. It's going to be a join Squash with CURS and is being held in the Ramsden Room in Catz on Saurday the 11th of October (yes, this coming Saturday) between 2:00pm and 5:30pm. Hopefully we'll see people there.

- 20/09/03 - Well, rather than a transfer, we have new personalities
The email voting booth has closed and the votes have been tallied. I'd like to take this moment to say that the response has been tremendous and I can't imagine how I would have coped with any more mail flooding my Inbox. My thanks to the three of you who voted.
Our new Vice President is Nicholas Taylor, although as a result of various suggestions made by the voters, he may only fulfil his duties and claim the post whilst an avatar of Nyarlathotep is in the same room, preferably perched upon his shoulder or head.
In other news, CUSU have still not updated their site, and so I still have no idea whether or not we have a stall at the Fresher's Fair. Their efficiency and customer care is like a breath of fresh air at a sewage works - it's just enough to make the smell seem worse the next second.
Finally, the provisional Constitution has been revised to include the proposed membership fees, and this site updated to make sure all Committee members are accounted for and so can be blamed when the time comes.
- 10/09/03 - Personality transfer in progress
As you can see, the site has ... changed somewhat. Lacking any major inspiration, the content from the filler site has been moved more-or-less wholesale to the new one. Alas, nothing is without problems. For some reason, the rather fun fading bar down the side has ... stopped doing what it should. No idea why. Oh Web Monkey, any ideas?
- 23/08/03 - Well, at least the new plan is advancing.
I've acquired this temporary bit of web-space so that the site is up and visible. Contct with CUSU will hopefully now follow. Rest assured that I intend to get web-space from the Uni or SRCF when I can. However, having the site up is, I feel, more important.
- 22/08/03 - Things haven't been going according to plan
As many of you who've been awaiting this site will know, it was expected ... quite a while ago. The reason for delays is simple - my web-monkey fell off the face of the earth. We're currently casting nets over the edge to see if we can catch him.
As a result, this site is not the intended finished product. Instead, it's something I've put together myself. Lacking any significant artistic talent as I do, it's not much. Hopefully though, it's just a stop-gap until we get something decent up. Please bear with me. Constructive criticism gratefully received.
Criticism involving cascading style sheets, however, will be growled at. I'm quite sure they're lovely things, but I'm set in my ways. My ways, in this case, involve doing everything very simply. Anyone who wants the site to use CSS should take that up with the webmonkey, not the President.
