Squad Profiles (2006/2007)
Jane Rosemary ALLISON, Trinity – Captain
Top-order batter
Right-arm medium-pace bowler
‘Kiwi’ is the only player to have scored a century for CUWCC, and is even more skilful with bat and ball than with her precious blade. Despite this, she remains modest and self critical and always ready to take ideas on board. Voted last seasons Player of the Year, Jane has other talents too—including the development of a bizarre new evolutionary order to explain caterpillars eating birds... (see Hoops), all well within her customary 2 minute email response time.
Sarah Elizabeth WALKER, Girton - Captain
Middle-order batter
Wicket-keeper
The wicket-keeping of the longest standing player on the team improved markedly last season with a rise in confidence seeing her standing up to the stumps for even the fastest bowlers, despite a midseason nasty knock on the chin. With contacts in every team we have met, Sarah’s insider knowledge of the opposition has been valuable, although possibly more concerning is the knowledge she has gained of her own team-mates when subjecting us to doctoral psychology experiments...
Rachel Sophia HOOPER, Selwyn
Middle-order batter
Our very own analyst, ex-RAF squadron leader ’Hoops’ is full of useful tactical advice. She is a solid batswoman and an even more solid fielder (literally—spot the shin pads underneath the whites!). Rach also made the prescient purchase of a Blue Peter-style craft kit for the journey to Durham last season, prompting a flurry of creations by other team members including ‘Chav’ and ‘Rah’ team mascots, the Cambridge blue bird, and the infamous evil caterpillar.
Susan Halsall LITTLE, Girton
Top-order batter
Right-arm medium-pace bowler
Suse’s scurrying run has become a common sight on the field, and the courageous best catch of last season proves that her nerve is far from mouse-like. A regal forward drive is often coupled with a cheeky grin and her quick reactions in the field might hark from her adept badminton skills. One to watch, this mouse has a fetish for cheese!
Amy Laura PERKINS, Selwyn
Middle-order batter
Right-arm medium-pace bowler
Underneath the babyface of this one of our ‘fit freshers’ from last season is a competitive streak that manifests itself in fast, flat and deadly accurate throws, fiery batting, and the occasional paddy upon the loss of her wicket. Amy won the Best Newcomer prize last year thanks to her gadget hands that make her a superb fielder, and handy bowling.
Elizabeth (‘Lizzie’) Rachel PETO, St Catherine's
Lower-order batter
Right-arm medium-pace bowler
Winning the Most Improved Player award last season, Lizzie has worked hard on her straight-as-a-die bowling, the accuracy of which always causes problems for opposition batswomen. She also always manages to stay wonderfully upbeat in the field, a knack aided greatly by the sheer size of the legendary ‘Peto mouth’! Lizzie can do no wrong, because “God made me the way I am!”
Kimberly Joanna ROACH, Emmanuel
Lower-order batter
Right-arm medium-pace bowler
Kim is one of our most committed team members, and her consistent, precisely pitched outswingers always trouble the opposition. We hope to hear plenty of her charismatic omnipresent giggle at full volume throughout the season!

Top-order batter
Right-arm medium-pace bowler
Dharshie MAHADEVA, Newnham
Lower-order batter
Right-arm slow bowler
Laura GARDINER, Selwyn
