***Introduction to the Women's Blues ***

In recent years the Blues have consistently placed in the top 4 strongest teams in the UK. With silver medals from both the EVA Cup and BUSA Championships and a Varsity win in the 2002-3 season, the Blues have a hard task to top their best achievements. With a good mixture of returning players and a strong new intake, the Women's Blues will be training hard to regain their former reputation!

Next Women's Blues squad event is on Sat 31st May 2008:  [more in Calendar]

Full listing of the 8 UK Men's and Women's University teams that have qualified to compete at the BUSA Finals in Sheffield. [More...]

***Blues women last match for 2008 ***

Playing a friendly match against UEA, who were keen to get some practice before the VE Student Cup Finals, the Blues bowed out of their 2007-8 season with a 5-0 loss. Match result can be seen here.

***2008 Varsity Matches ***

Both Blues teams travelled to Iffley Road for the 2008 Varsity matches. The Men were up first and defended their run of past victories with little opposition from the Oxford men. The Women were ranked as underdogs, but fought to a 2-1 lead, eventually succumbing 2-3 after a 5 set thriller.

***2008 BUSA Knockout Round Draw ***

The next stage of the BUSA Championship competition for 2007-8 has been posted today. The Blues men have a tough home challenge against London, but with home advantage, after winning the Midlands 1A division. The Blues women posted a disappointing 5th place in the league and so did not get to the knockout stages, but did just avoid relegation into Tier 2. Full draw.... (first team home) [More...]

***Women continue to slide, Men back on track ***

The Cambridge girls were forced to travel to Nottingham with a heavily depleted side, work commitments adding to injuries to preclude the majority of the team for the early start time. A makeshift team battled bravely but fell in straight sets. The Men's Blues were not tested by a travel weary Brookes side, and held their home court easily.

***Blues lose out to Loughborough ***

The men's blues were dealt their first loss of the season by Loughborough, who are the other serious contendors for the Midland's title. Without taking anything away from the visitors, the Blues will be disappointed by their preformance, and eager to improve in the return fixture. Early in the days, the Blue's Women also lost out, bring their record to 2-2.

***Trick or Treat at Iffley Road ***

The joint Halloween fixture against the Dark Side didn't see the girls get any treats from Oxford, so the men's tricks in return including smashing balls instead of pumpkins. Scary stuff.

***Double Victory for Blues ***

Both Cambridge Blues sides extended their records to 2-0 with comfortable straight set victories. The Men travelled to Nottingham to play a slightly injury depleted squad, and were home in time to watch their ladies send Warwick packing.

***Blues Positive Start ***

Both Blues teams posted wins for their first BUSA matches of the 07-08 season. The Women's team eventually beat Birmingham after a tight fifth set, the visitors battling back from two sets down. The Men had an easier visit to Warwick, winning in straight sets.
