***Varsity Match ***

As with the Boat Race, Cambridge play Oxford in a one-off volleyball fixture each year. Volleyball is included as part of the annual Varsity Games, a series of sports played over a week in the Lent term. The Varsity volleyball match always attracts a large number of supporters from both universities. Whilst the Cambridge men are more often victors, in 2001 the Light Blue women's fans enjoyed their teams first victory for many years after a thrilling comeback from two sets down. Since then the honours have been shared in close matches between the two teams. The venue alternates between Cambridge and Oxford.

***EVA Student Cup ***

The English Volleyball Association organises this tournament, open to all British universities. Qualification rounds are necessary for all entering teams apart from the top four finishers in the previous year, and these usually take place over a weekend in November, at various locations. Finals involve 16 qualifying teams and are held in Leeds over a weekend in February. The Blues men have recently won this competition, the Blues women have achieved silver medals on more than one occasion.

***BUSA Championship ***

This is a tournament organised by the British Universities Sports Association. All BUSA participating Universities are eligible to enter teams into the competition, and these institutions are split into 5 regions across the UK. The championship is run on a league basis, with matches on wednesdays throughout term. In the Midlands Conference, both Blues teams play in the top league (1A), which consists of six teams. The bottom two teams (at the end of the league play) are relegated to Tier 2A. The top four teams progress to the last 16, an inter-regional knockout round. Winning this match qualifies the team to attend the Finals, played in Loughborough over a weekend in March. Of these eight strongest teams in England, Scotland and Wales, Cambridge men and women consistently find a placing. The Cambridge men have won the title, the women have placed second in 2001 and 2003. The British Champions qualify to play in the European Championships.

The dates of Blues' training and matches can be found in the Calendar.
