Cambridge women's Blues (plus guests) hosted a team from Italy for a friendly match over the weekend of the May Bank holiday. Cambridge narrowly won a very close match after losing the first two sets. [report]

The Men's and women's Blues squads were in action at the weekend in Sheffield at the BUCS Finals. The volleyball competition was held at All Saints School, the men competing in the Championship Finals and the women in the semi-finals of the Trophy competition. [More...]

07/03/2009 - UCCM Varsity Win!

The Cambridge Men's second team lined up for their first ever Varsity match with a starting six consisting of; Pieter-Jan van Uytvanck (capt), Chris Wymant, Andrea Pastore, Alex Hermes, Clemens Wiltsche and Yasushi Kondo. The team took the first two sets, but then battled well and lost the third. With time pressing, coach Jean Jacquet resorted to his starting line up for a crushing fourth set victory (25-22, 26-24, 22-25, 25-8). MVP was Yasushi Kondo.

07/03/2009 - UCCW Varsity Win!

UCCW lined up for their first ever Varsity 2nd team match with a team that had consistently played in the Cambs county womens league. Bettina Studer (capt) and Naabia Ofusu-Amaah setting, Pippa Kennedy and Crystal Cheng in the middle and Sabine Reihl and Natalie Thierjung on the outside. [More...]

04/03/2009 - Winter Cuppers Results

The Indoor Cuppers Finals were played on saturday the 21st of Feb at the Leys School gym, after a qualification round on the 14th Feb. Fitzwilliam College beat Trinity College (2-0) in the first match to book a place in the Final against the winners of the second semi-final, Girton 1, who beat their own second team (2-0). The 2009 Indoor champions were Fitzwilliam College, winning a close final by 2-1. [More...]

18/02/2009 - BUCS Finalists

The Men's Blues posted a 3-0 win over the University of Essex to progress to the last 8 teams in the 2008-9 BUCS Championship finals. They will play in Sheffield against Hallam, Ulster, Edinburgh, Loughborough, Leeds Met, Bath and Kent. The Women's Finalists are Durham, Manchester, Oxford, Dundee, Napier, Imperial, Bath and Birmingham. The Cambridge Women won 3-0 against Newcastle in the Trophy competition, giving them an away fixture on the 25th Feb against Edinburgh 2 for a place in the semi-finals against Liverpool or Aberdeen.

03/02/2009 - BUCS Championship K.O. round

The K.O. round draw puts the top 4 (from 6) teams from the Midlands 1A league into a pool of the top 16 teams in the country. The K.O. match reduces this number to the top 8 teams, which then proceed to the BUCS Championship Finals in Sheffield in March. Good luck to the Mens Blues, who finished 2nd in the league and play Essex to get to Finals. The Womens Blues placed 5th overall, so do not go to the K.O. stage. [matches...]

01/02/2009 - Student Cup Finals Draw
Volleyball England run the National Student Cup each year. The Mens Blues gained automatic entry from their top 4 finish in 2008, and are seeded first in Pool B. The Womens Blues attended the qualification tournament at UEA in November, but did not make the top 16 teams. [full draw...]
