The second Beach Volleyball cuppers were held on Suicide Sunday, 13th June 2004. As opposed to last year, the days for Beach and normal Cuppers were split to avoid fixtures clashes. Unfortunately, this meant that the turnout was also much poorer than last year. Nonetheless, we had enough teams for 2 pools of 5. The weather was fabulous, not a whisper of wind and lots of sunshine.

Pool A:
Pavel and Marcello
Tancredi and David
Jowie and Leo
Paul and Georgie

Pool B:
Jack and Stefan
Jim and Woijtech
Jean and Pascale
Richard and Georgie

Matches were played best of 3 sets to 15, last set to 11. Pool A was won by Pavel and Marcello, and runners up were Paul and Georgie. Pool B was won by Stefan and Jack, closely followed by Pascale and hungover Jean.

In the knockout stage, Jack and Stefan promptly dispatched Paul and Georgie, despite a really great show of play from their part (15-8,15-7). Great upset in the other semi-final when Jean finally woke up and led his team steadily to victory (scores lost) against bewildered Marcello and Pavel.

The final was a wonderful show of youth vs experience, Jack & Stefan producing some very nice volleyball with great hits, decent passing and (at least one of them) excellent blocking. However, the day was won by Jean and Pascale as they faultlessly received every hit and serve, and found the gaps in the oppositions' defence (scores lost too, something like 19-17, 15-13).
