Cuppers 2002
On Monday 17th June, 20 college teams battled it out on St John's
playing fields for the title of Cuppers Champions 2002. In the end there
were no surprises as hot favourites, John's I, made off with their
fifth consecutive inter-college title. Despite being drawn in the same
pool as their first team, John's II managed to get to the last four
of for the second year running cuppers, but this time it was
Robinson who beat them in a thrilling match which went to 20-18 in
the deciding set. An impressive performace from newcomers Zoology
saw them reach the last four, but they were unable to take a set off
John's I. Once again Robinson Condors fell at the final hurdle as they
were unable to reproduce their semi-final form when it really mattered.
Surely 2003 will be their year...
