Varsity 2003

Cambridge458.8Winner of 1 Varsity point and the Varsity Cup.
Oxford436.2Winner of 2 Varsity points and the Varsity Match.

Saturday 8th February 2003 - The Leys School Sports Centre

The trampolining Varsity match took place on Saturday 8th February. Everyone pulled out all the stops for Cambridge and performed brilliantly (results here). CUTC lost the A-team match (& two of the Varsity Games points) at the mercy of a couple of great performances from Oxford, but did ourselves proud. The B & C teams both won their matches by very large margins, earning us one Varsity point, and the overall Varsity Cup win.

To clarify about the confusion over the cup, in the past few years at least (confirmed since by consultation with Anita and Gregg), the overall match win and cup have been awarded to the club with the highest total A + B + C team scores - therefore, WE WON (hurray!), 458.8 to 436.2.

I'm currently consulting with Dan (Oxford President) to write some proper guidelines for the varsity match so that they'll be no similar query in the future.

However, due to Varsity Guidelines, Oxford get two points for winning the A-team competition, and Cambridge only get one for the B-team, so as far as the Varsity Games are concerned, the score was 2-1 Oxford.
