About the Committee posts

President - responsible for the overall running and organisation of CUTC.

Vice President - helps the president.

Awards and Competitions - responsible for organising CUTC’s participation in competitions and for CUTC’s own competitions.

Secretary - responsible for a number of administrate duties.

Junior Treasurer - ensures that the club continues as a financially viable and independent society.

Head Coach - should be a qualified trampoline coach and has overall responsible for safety and quality of coaching at CUTC.

Social Secretary - responsible for social things!

Women's Captain - attends Women's Blues meetings.

Men's Captain - attends Men's Blues meetings and pressurises for 1/2 Blue status for men for trampolining.


President (back)

The President is responsible for the overall running and organisation of CUTC. Responsibilities include:

  • Acting as the main point of contact for the club; dealing with correspondence from the University, Sports Centre, members/potential members and members of the public.

  • Organising and chairing committee meeting and the AGM.

  • Ensuring that the club follows its constitution and the good practice guidelines as published by British Gymnastics. In particular, ensure that the club is run in a safe manner and that the code of conduct is followed.

  • Keeping the club’s code of practice up to date.

  • Ensuring that each of the committee positions, is filled (and ensure all relevant documentation is passed on to the newly elected committee).

  • Ensuring that each officer knows their role, and is able to fulfil it.

  • If for any reason any of the positions are not filled the president must ensure that the duties of that official are carried out until a suitable person can be found to permanently fill the role.

  • Appointing (with the agreement of the committee) people to the co-opted posts (webmaster, mens’ and womens’ Captains).

  • Ensuring a representative of the club attends Blues committee meetings.

  • Ensuring Blues criteria are appropriate and preparing submissions to the Blues committees where necessary.

  • Applying for Blues awards for club members.

  • Organising the Varsity Match (in conjunction with Awards and Competitions).

  • Informing the relevant authorities of changes in the club officials.

  • Responsible for maintaining the club mailing lists (in conjunction with the secretary).

  • Organising publicity for the club, including the Freshers’ Fair stand and liaising with student newspapers.

  • Checking session bookings.

  • Responsible for compliance with University regulations, as described in the document ‘Notes for the Guidance of University Clubs and Societies’.

  • Producing an annual report on the clubs activities.

  • Ensuring the history section of the website stays to date.

Vice President (back)

The Vice Presidents role is to assist the President and act as their deputy when necessary. The VP also helps other committee members with any tasks they need doing - this fluctuates depending on how efficient the rest of the committee are! The Vice President's main responsibilities are:

  • Organising and selling (or lending) club kit (inc. leotards).

  • Organising the AGM photo in Easter term.

  • Maintaining the Alumni mailing list and organising alumni events when appropriate.

  • Sending an annual alumni newsletter (following the AGM annual report).

  • Creating and maintaining and publishing a list of grants etc available to members.

Awards and Competitions (back)

The Awards and Competitions officer is responsible for organising CUTC’s participation in competitions and for CUTC’s own competitions (Cuppers and the CUTC open). Duties include:

  • Supplying information about competitions via email, the website and at sessions.

  • Being enthusiastic and encourage people to enter.

  • Collecting entries and sending them to competition organisers.

  • Organising transport/accommodation.

  • Ensuring emergency contacts get taken to competition.

  • Ensuring members are prepared for competitions.

  • Maintain a list of other university trampoline club contacts.

  • Ensuring we have sufficient judges.

  • CUTCO - Publicise the event to other universities, and collect entries, coordinate organising committee.

Main competitions – BUSA, Varsity, Cuppers, ISTO, Germany, Scottish Open, York/UEA friendly, CUTC Open, Manchester

Secretary (back)

The club secretary is responsible for a number of administrate duties. These include:

  • Taking and distributing minutes of committee meetings and the AGM.

  • Ensuring all new members have paid, have completed a data sheet and been issued with a receipt.

  • Keeping a record of all club members and registering them with BG for insurance purposes.

  • Adding all new members to the mailing list.

  • Ensuring compliance with data protection legislation.

  • Recording session attendance.

Junior Treasurer (back)

The junior treasurer's responsibility is to ensure that the club continues as a financially viable and independent society. Duties include:

  • Producing a realistic budget prior to the start of each academic year.

  • Compiling a summary of the club's accounts for submission to the University
    Proctors and the Senior Treasurer.

  • Producing a financial report to be presented at the AGM.

  • Managing the club's current and savings bank accounts.

  • Ensuring moneys are promptly deposited into the club's bank account(s).

  • Recording all transactions in the club's accounts.

  • Paying suppliers within their credit period while ensuring that CUTC does
    not enter into debt.

  • Ensuring equipment is insured against fire, theft and natural disaster.

  • Applying to the Sports Syndicate for financial support.

  • Ensure that all statutory returns are made including VAT, income tax and corporation tax if appropriate.

  • Responsible for compliance with University Financial regulations, as described in the document ‘Notes for the Guidance of University Clubs and Societies’.

Head Coach (back)

The head coach should be a qualified trampoline coach and has overall responsible for safety and quality of coaching at CUTC. The head coaches’ responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring that all equipment is serviced annually.

  • Ensuring that all equipment is always in good condition, and organising repairs when necessary.

  • Keeping maintenance records.

  • Ordering new equipment, when asked to by the committee.

  • Organising and booking sessions.

  • Organising the coaching rota.

  • Ensuring the club has sufficient coaches .

  • Identifying and encouraging potential new coaches, and assisting the
    development of existing coaches.

  • Submitting six-monthly accident returns to Perkins-Slade (or the current insurer), in accordance with BG guidelines.

  • Ensuring the club complies with the current BG code of practice.

  • Assisting the President in ensuring compliance with BGs Health, Safety and Welfare Policy.

  • Ensuring the club holds copies of coaching certificates and current CRB checks (less than three years old) for all coaches.

Social Secretary (back)

Responsible for social things! Duties include:

  • Attending committee meetings.

  • Arrangeing a variety of socials including the
    annual garden party, night punting, fresher's social, Christmas social,
    CUTC formals, AGM meal as well as others you decide.

  • Being enthusiastic and friendly and encourage people to be sociable.
    Communicating with other sports clubs.

  • Collecting and dealing with money and payment for socials.
