Street dance refers to any style of dance that originated outside of the dance studio and developed organically in social settings such as parks, clubs and out on the streets. Such styles vary greatly depending on where they have developed, examples include moshing, clogging and krumping. Nowadays street dance or hip-hop is also used to refer studio-based versions street dances which came about when teachers and choreographers tried to copy the organic forms. Commercial street dance invented in studios is often confused with the original street dances that evolved out on the streets. It is the commercial style which is taught in classes and can be seen on stage and music videos.
