Information for Prospective Students
This project aims to encourage and facilitate more applications to Cambridge University by Sikhs. We believe that a number of potential applicants might be discouraged from applying by misconceptions of Cambridge University and lack of information and support from their schools. Through this scheme, we hope to dispel any misconceptions, provide you with an insight into life at Cambridge University and all the support you will need to give you the best chance of gaining a place here - both at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
The obvious place to start is with the Cambridge University/College prospectus and their website (www.cam.ac.uk) to find information on colleges and courses. However, perhaps the best way to find out about a course or college is to speak/contact someone on the course or at the college and for this we have a variety of students at various colleges and stages of their course who are more than willing to help you. When choosing a college, it is important to appreciate that each one has its own environment and we can provide information on life as a Sikh in different colleges. Another good way of finding out about the University is to see it for yourself and speak to people at the University and we would be more than pleased to take you around the University.
Furthermore, we are available throughout your application to answer any questions, provide interview tips and provide advice on say, writing personal statements.
http://www.sikhtutors.org has a tutoring scheme piloting in west london to encourage sikh stdents to apply to top universities,
