November 2009 commemorates 25 years since the Delhi pogroms in which over four thousand Sikh men, women and children were sys- tematically killed over a four day period. This lecture uncovers the sequence of events leading to and during the pogroms, the patterns & characteristics of the anti-Sikh violence, and questions the complicity of the Police and the Politicians. It draws upon personal testimonies from those most affected, as well as comparing and contrasting the media coverage from the World Press and the state-controlled media outlets. Finally, it will look at the Aftermath of November 1984, high- light the numerous commissions that have investigated the Pogroms, and pose some serious questions why 25 years on, there has still been no meaningful justice for the victims.
