World Squash Day - sponsored by ATASS Sports

CUSRC are taking part and playing host to some 50 squash matches to help back the bid for squash in the Olympics 2020. We're hosting 20 matches consisting entirely of university players, and have encouraged around 30 matches between college players ranging from those who have never picked up a racket before to those who play every day.

Everyone at the club - and indeed, almost every squash player across the world - is eager to see squash on the biggest platform. That is why CUSRC has gone to great lengths to try and involve as many people across the university as possible! We anticipate a fantastic day of squash with more of the courts occupied across the city than at any other point in history!

We know that our participation will help contribute to breaking a world record, being the largest competitive sports match in history. We're also hopeful that the day will raise the profile of squash across the world, regardless of whether or not the bid for Olympics 2020 is successful. More immediately, we believe our part will further raise the immense popularity squash enjoys amongst Cambridge students. We expect that it will encourage many beginners to see squash as a fun activity to do with their friends, that is enormously enjoyable as well as being a great way to stay fit and be sociable - that hopefully may carry on throughout their life with work colleagues and friends after university.
