2nd Team 2016-17

Emily Hopgood

Second Team Captain

Hey, I’m Emily and I’m a third year vet at Emma! I joined CUET as part of the thirds team last year and have totally loved my time with the club. I’ve been riding since I was seven at my local stables which I then went on to work at during my teenage years, alongside part loaning and bringing on several horses. This lead me to be a bit of a Jack of all trades having dabbled in show jumping, dressage, eventing, sidesaddle, games and tackles riding – I’m always on the look-out for something new and exciting to try! Between terms I try and stay in the saddle as much as possible, scrounging rides off my friends’ diverse range of horses and ponies (I like to see this as good BUCS practice). Being part of such a supportive, friendly and inclusive group of people in CUET has really enhanced my time at Cambridge. Competing with the club has brought on my riding and general competition experience no end. I’m super excited to be captaining the seconds this year and can’t wait to get out there and beat O*ford!

Hattie Allison

I’m Hattie and I’m in second year at Pembroke studying HSPS. I have just joined CUET, but have been riding for as long as I can remember!

Until I was 14 I competed in all disciplines, eventing up to BE Pre-Novice, and also riding for my Pony Club and School in dressage and show jumping. Then I decided to focus on show jumping and competed in BS up to 1.15m.

I am really excited to be joining CUET this year and to have the chance to represent Cambridge!

Rosie Knowles

Hi, I’m Rosie and I’m currently in my second year studying Geography at Newnham college. I’m really looking forward to competing on the CUET second team this year. Last year I was part of the development squad and really enjoyed training and winning Varsity against oxford! I have been riding since I was 5 years old and have owned horses and ponies since I was 10. I unfortunately had to sell my last horse before coming to university. I used to do some British dressage, eventing, show jumping and hunting. I have also just spent the summer as an intern on a working cattle ranch, wrangling and training young horses.

Georgia Hockenhull

I’m at fresher at Pembroke studying HSPS. I’ve been riding since I was young and I’m excited to able to carry on riding whilst at uni with CUET. I’ve produced horses up to BE Novice and am hoping to go intermediate next season with my 7 year old. I’ve also been lucky enough to win at Hickstead and Windsor. At home I ride a variety of young horses and I’m looking forward to the challenge of riding the range of horses at matches
