CUET First Team 2017-2018:

Kate Branley

1st Team Captain

Hi, I’m Kate and I’m a third year Natsci at Newnham. I’ve been riding since I was 5 and started off doing all Pony Club activities. My first horse, Charlie, was a 4yo who I brought on to event at 1m/PC Novice Area level and Novice dressage. When I finally decided my love was actually dressage I had to sell him as his dressage abilities were limited! My current horse is a 8yo warmblood cross, called Bunny (he’s a boy and his name is a long story!!), who I have owned for 3 years. We compete at British Dressage (and jump a little bit!) and this year we competed at the BD Winter National Championships in the Elementary Area Festival Championship. We are now out and about at Medium with hopes of moving up to Advanced Medium by the end of 2017. Having been a member of CUET for 2 years, as part of the Seconds in 2015-16 and Firsts in 2016-17, I am incredibly excited to be able to Captain such a fantastic squad and hope to continue the light blue domination seen in the previous few years!

Susannah Boddie

Hi, I’m Susannah and I am a 3rd year Nat Sci at Trinity Hall. I have loved being a member of the CUET first team for the past 2 year and being part of such a successful light blue campaign.

Previously I have evented up to BE Intermediate/ 1* level and show jumped up to Foxhunter with my horse Corfu. I have enjoyed success at various championships along the way, with a highlight being placed 7th in the Novice National Championships at The Festival of British Eventing. I took a gap year to focus on riding being a working pupil for a professional 3* eventer which I absolutely loved but did make coming to University quite a shock. Being a part of CUET has really helped to fill the gap between competing my horse at home during the holidays.

Georgia Hockenhull

I’m at second year at Pembroke studying HSPS. I’ve been riding since I was young and loved the experience I had last year in the 2nd team with CUET. I’ve produced horses up to BE Novice and am looking to make the step up to intermediate this season. I’ve also been lucky enough to win at Hickstead, Windsor and at Scope on various different horses over the years. My best memory from last season was definitely beating Oxf*rd at Varsity with 3/3 wins for CUET and will be looking to do the same this year!

Adeline Brode-Roger

Hi, I’m Adeline and I’m a first year studying HSPS at Emmanuel. I’ve been riding since age three and have never stopped since. Throughout the years, I competed in jumping at a national level in Belgium, moving up from pony classes to Juniors and Young Riders this year. I took a gap year before coming to Cambridge and worked as a professional rider, which has made the transition to academia a little brutal! I am looking forward to representing Cambridge and being able to continue some riding while at university.
