Since 9th May 2011, CURC have been sponsoring Libby at Springhill Stables, where our Novice and Beginner riders take their lessons.
Libby was bought from a meet market in March 2009 in poor conditon. She is about 18 months old. When Fiona found her, she had a bit tied to
her head collar to stop her from suckling her mother, who Fiona also took
in. She had wounds around her mouth from it. Her hooves were overgrown and Libby had various injuries including a stabbing wound from a
sharp object (probably a pitchfork) which had become infected. She also had a case of Strangles (a serious bacterial infection, causing
severe inflammation of the head and throat and often rupture of the lymph nodes).

Libby 2 weeks after she was bought, while her wounds were being treated and hooves trimmed, undergoing treatment for strangles and worms
The riders at Springhill are welcome to ask to visit Libby after their lessons. The Novice rep gets regular updates and photos of Libby, which will be getting more frequeny when Fiona begins to work with her and train her).
If everyone keeps improving so fast, perhaps riders from the club get to become her first ever riders. Although, Libby is not yet 2 and won’t be used for lessons until she is atleast 5, so this might only apply to Fresher’s!
