Jimmy's Night Shelter: Donations can be left in the red collection box in The Street of the Helmore building at Anglia Ruskin University.

Jimmy's Night Shelter

Jimmy's Night Shelter is located right next to Anglia Ruskin University, in the basement of the Zion Baptist Church on East Road.

Since opening its doors in the autumn of 1995, the shelter has provided hot meals and a warm bed to approximately 3000 people.

A number of essential services, including laundry facilities, a clothing store, chiropody, move-on houses and drug & alcohol services, a footcare team and a psychiatrist, are also offered to guests.

The Cambridge and Anglia Ruskin Universities Roots & Shoots Society collect non-perishable food items for the shelter on an ongoing basis. A red collection box has been placed in 'The Street' of the Helmore building by the Employment Centre at Anglia Ruskin University, East Road, Cambridge.

Please have a look at the list of suggested items and keep the guests of the shelter in mind when you are shopping for food. Jimmy's also accepts clothing, toiletries and books.

For this to be a success, we need the help of students, faculty, and other Societies, so do join in if you are interested!

We are also looking for volunteers to help collect food and clothing for Jimmy's Night Shelter, especially at the end of semester.

If you would like any more information, have any additional ideas, or have non-food items you would like to contribute, please send us e-mail to rootsandshoots@angliastudent.com
