Easter Ramble 2004
Our resident poet, Laurence Morris, takes up the story...
The Ignoble, Horrifying, Possibly Fictitious, Wholly Libellous, Probably Untrue and Definitely Slanderous Story of the CURAC Easter Ramble, 2004
Prologue:
I’ll tell you a tale, I’ll take you back,
To the Easter Ramble and the weight of my pack.
A time of rain and endless peat,
Aching muscles and stinking feet.
Katharine Oakley headed our group,
With Richard leading our little troop.
Laura came with Bakewell the Penguin,
Despite her teasing David stayed sanguine.
It was a good job we brought Ben along,
As we had a scapegoat when all went wrong.
Fiona came down from north of the border,
Unlike Martin, southern marauder.
Matthew and Mike joined up with our crew,
With Geoffrey March from APU.
Alison came with her big blue mac,
Yet somehow managed the lightest pack.
Your trusty scribe brought up the rear,
They tried to lose me but I’m still here.
Together we formed a heroic band,
Whose deeds became known throughout the land.
You don’t know our names but its early yet-
Heed this tale and don’t forget.
