CUPC
Lessons are held most days during Term either during
the afternoon or early evenings, and at weekends. Beginners
lessons will guide you through all the basic shots, rules
and tactics of the game on a variety of ponies. Lessons for
players with previous experience focus on game tactics and
strategy at a slight faster game-pace. Confused about rules
and tactics? Check out Polo
- A Guide
Fees
Lessons
cost £16.50 each for approximately one and half hours
tuition in the Winter, and £18 in the Summer. Chukkas
are £9 each.
Membership
fee is £50 per Term. Payable by cheque to CUPC.
Location
We
play polo at the Haggis Farm, which is about 2 miles outside
the City Centre and can be reached mostly along cycle paths.
We
meet 30 minutes before the lesson starts at the Granta pub;
often there may be a member with a car who will save you the
invigorating cycle ride to Haggis Farm. (How do I get there
by bike?)
Sign-up
Sign-up
for lessons takes place every Monday, at 8pm, in the University Center, on Mill road, next to the Mill pub.
If
you have any queries about the lessons, please email the Polo
Manager.
The
Wooden Horse
We
are allowed to use the wooden horse in Trumpington. Please
feel free to make use of this facility. It's great for extra
practice, especially when you don’t want to worry about
what your horse might be doing! Directions

Directions to the Wooden Horse at Trumpington:
On
a Bike:
From town, go down Trumpington Street until you get to Trumpington.
There is a war memorial on your right by the junction with
Church Lane. The long driveway of Trumpington Hall is just
behind this memorial (see map). Go down the drive, take the first right,
then first left into the yard.
Keep to the left and the wooden horse is in the barn on the
right (there's a side-door). The light switch is on the outside
of the building (a bit further along than the side-door).
In
a Car:
Church Lane is one-way at the end, so you have to turn right
into Maris Lane. Turn left at the end onto Church Lane, then
right opposite the church into the other bit of the driveway
(see map). Follow the drive round o the left, take the first
right, then first left into the yard.
Keep to the left and the wooden horse is in the barn on the
right (there's a side-door). The light switch is on the outside
of the building (a bit further along than the side-door).
