The first CU Open tournament was held on the 17th November 2007, at Cambridge Snooker Centre. The event was open to any member of the university, and a total of 21 entries were received. Eight players were seeded.
The event was won by Rob Hogan, who beat Lee Mager 7-6 in a nail-biting final to claim the title of CU Open Champion.
Alongside this there was a straight pool tournament, which was won by Graham Sills, who beat Paul Thomas 50-31 in the final. The plate competition was open to losers of their first matches and was won by Matt Cullen, who beat Luke Gleave 5-0 in the final.
