About CULC

In late 2001, the men's, mixed and women's university lacrosse clubs merged to form a single unified club to allow simpler, more centralised arrangement of lacrosse in Cambridge.

College Lacrosse

As well as having university squads, there are college teams to allow more people to play lacrosse. There is a regular inter-college mixed lacrosse league, along with the obligatory cuppers competition to see which is the best college at lacrosse.

History

The men's lacrosse club is the oldest university lacrosse club in the country and is also the oldest half-blue sport in Cambridge. Since the inception of the annual Varsity match against Oxford University in 1903, the match has only been cancelled as a result of the outbreak of the two World Wars.

The women's club was founded in 1912. The first team currently plays in the Premier division - South. The second women's team plays in the Midlands Conference (Women's 1A) division. The team traditionally plays on Wednesday afternoons and supporters are most welcome.

The mixed lacrosse club is relatively new, having had its first Varsity match in 1998. It is however growing in strength and there are hopes of even greater things to come this year!
