The Ice Hockey Blues had a jammed packed weekend starting on Friday 29th January when the Blues went head to head against the Warwick Panthers in Milton Keynes. The Blues went down a goal early while two players were in the penalty box when the Panthers were able to capitalise. The game got progressively more physical as the Blues picked up their play. Man of the match David Waterman laid some decimating hits on Panthers forwards, and Blues forwards worked tirelessly to keep possession. Penalties were doled out liberally,in particular with Blues forward Tom Whillier receiving a 10 minute misconduct. The latter two periods in particular were filled with numerous trips to the penalty box from both sides.
This nail biting match was decided on one shift in the second period when forward Andrew Buddle opening up the scoring for the Blues by squeezing in a loose puck in front of the net that the Warwick netminder had failed to control following a shot from Whillier. This was followed less than a minute later by a quick top-corner goal from defenseman Teale Phelps Bondaroff. The final score of 2 to 1 was just reward for the Blues after they outshot the Panthers 38-19.
