Cambridge Blues
The Cambridge Blues are the University's men's varsity squad. They compete in BUIHA Division 1 South, which is the top tier for University ice hockey in Britain. The season consists of a league format cup competition that runs from November until March. The Blues also enter tier 1 of the Universities National Championships, which is a fantastic weekend long tournament in May that takes place at Ice Sheffield; one of the finest ice rinks in the country.
The Blues squad trains on ice on Sunday evenings at Planet Ice in Peterborough, in addition to twice weekly fitness sessions on Parker's Piece. Over the holiday period there is a temporary ice rink on Parker's Piece (Cambridge On Ice) which we have access to in the mornings for fun shinny sessions.
There are two main highlights of the year as part of the Blues. The first is our trip to Switzerland where we are able to train and play matches against local teams on perfect outdoor ice at the Lyceum Alpinum Zuoz. The second is of course the annual varsity match against the rival Oxford Dark Blues. This fiercely competed contest is steeped in history and has an intensity like no other.
Cambridge Women's Blues
The Women's Blues were founded in the 1980's and follow a similar training structure to the Blues. Accepting players of all backgrounds, they boast a wide range of talent - from complete beginners to 15 year veterans. During Michalmas term the Women's Blues play a series of exhibition matches against both University squads and teams from the English Women's Leagues. In Lent term the focus shifts onto BUIHA Division 3 South, which precedes the annual varsity match against Oxford. They also enter the Universities National Championships in Sheffield, competing in tier 3.
One of the highlights for the Women's Blues is their trip to Vierumaki in Finland for a week long training camp. With the opportunity for training both on and off the ice, this trip gives the Women's Blues a chance to develop their skills in state of the art facilities.

Cambridge Eskimos
The Cambridge Eskimos, the University's 'B' team, were originally formed in the 1920's along with the Oxford Cosmopolitans. However, during World War II the rivalry was suspended, and upon it's return the Eskimos were no longer a feature. The team was revived again in 1995 and continues to this day.
The Eskimos form the 'recreational' side of the club, welcoming both beginner players from the University, members of staff and also one or two players from outside. Despite the 'rec' status, in recent years the squad has featured some formidable players and has taken on some very strong opposition from both University teams and rec teams across the country.
Continuing the theme of touring Europe, the Eskimos will usually take at least one trip across the channel onto the continent. Last season they played in a tournament in Linz in Austria; they will be making a return this year.
