Anthony Law, Team Manager

Fourth-year Aerospace and Aerothermal Engineering

Anthony joined CUER shortly after the society was founded and worked on Affinity and was delighted to be allowed to drive the car during the End to End trip. In his Masters year he will be doing research into optimisation of racing strategy and developing a custom software system to ensure that the WSC 09 car crosses Australia as efficiently as possible. However his role as Team Manager will see him running the business aspects of CUER: sponsorship, PR, logistics and outreach.

Anthony’s interests lie in power generation and transportation and he is looking forward to being able to help develop sustainable solutions to the looming problems in these areas. In his free time he enjoys playing the piano and cycling.

Charlie Watt, Technical Director

Fourth-year Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering

Charlie joined the team as design work for Affinity was starting off and eventually, amongst other roles, became the chief driver for the End to End trip. In the coming year, he will be directing the development of the second generation vehicle to race in WSC, and is doing a Masters project on the design and manufacture of the chassis.

He takes an involved interest in renewable energy matters and sustainability issues, and hopes that CUER can help to drive an in-creased environmental awareness among people in the UK.

Aside from his chosen Engineering area, Charlie also takes an interest in electronics. In his spare time he enjoys being outside in the hills or on the water.
