CUCS Annual Dinner 2008

The long awaited last gathering for chi soc members this year has arrived- the Annual Dinner! It will be held next Monday at New Hall (promised good food) and places are very limited.

Cost:	12 pounds (wine included) Due to limited supply, you are adviced to bring your own wine
Dress Code:	Black Tie
Menu:	-Starter: Warm Duck Breast Salad with Orange & Sesame Seed Dressing Main -Course: Char Grilled Rib Eye Steak with a Oyster Mushroom & Chive Cream -Sauce Dessert: Raspberry & White Chocolate Torte with a Summer Fruit Sauce

We especially invite the running candidates for chi soc this year to join our dinner because it will be a great opportunity for our current committee to wish you good luck to the coming year personally.

Please email to Clara(cysc2@cam.ac.uk)) WITH DIETARY REQUIREMENT if you are interested in coming, do so ASAP to avoid disappointment, it's one of the most popular events and we're choosing the best menu as a last treat to our members! We are hoping to see all of your faces at New Hall.

However much you will miss us, it is time to round up a fruitful year and let the chi soc leadership pass onto new hands. It has been a pleasure for our current committee to serve you all the past year and we cordially invite all of you- ex-comm, current members, and of course the running candidates to attend our AGM this Saturday:

We are pleased to announce that there are 14 candidates this year and it will be an exciting event. Here are the candidates' manifestoes for your reference. Running candidates are reminded to arrive promptly on the day. Presidential candidates are required to prepare a 5 mins speech and other candidates a 2 mins speech. There will be Questions-and-Answer session for all candidates.

This is the program for the night:

• Presidential Report
• Annual Financial Report
• Election of the President (5 min. speech from each candidate, followed by Question-and-Answer session)
• Voting and annoucement for the new President
• Intermission
• Election of the Executive Committee (2 min. speech from each candidate, followed by QnA session)
• Voting and announcement for the new executive committee

The enthusiasm to serve our community this year is overwhelming, we are excited about the quality and quantity of committed individuals to chi soc. Come cast your vote and help decide chi soc's future!

AGM 2008 Election Results

Thanks to all of you who attended our AGM last Saturday! We are pleased to announce the following election results for the CUCS Committee 08-09:

President: Mr Henry Kwok

Vice-President: Mr Oscar Chan

Internal Secretary: Ms Laura Lai

External Secretary: Ms Summie Yeung

Treasurer: Mr Victor Lau

Publicity Officer: Mr Kenneth Chau

Sport Secretary: Mr Eric Lai

Here are the details of the result:

* "Total Vote" include those which RONed all candidates. Simple Majority = Round-up[(Total Vote)/2]
** When simple majority is not reached, second choice votes are counted from
  (i) opposing candidate when only 2 candidates are running for the post
  (ii) the candidate with the least first choice vote when 3 candidates are running for the post
***Candidate's Total = First Choice + Second Choice. The candidate who has the most "Candidate's Total" and if it reaches simple majority, he/she will get the post.

A note of gratitude from the outgoing Committee

On behalf of the 2006-2007 Committee, I would like to say a big thank you to our lovely members for your immense support throughout the year! It's been a fruitful year for us, and we would not have done it without your participation, advice, help and positivism. We do hope that you will continue to support ChiSoc!
