Chemical Engineering at Cambridge
It is not unfounded to say that Cambridge is one of the best
places to study Chemical Engineering in the world. Academically
Cambridge consistently comes in the top 4 Universities in
the world - and sometimes top for the Sciences. The department
is full of academic staff which are world leaders in their
fields of research. This translates into students being taught
by the best in the world.
An Education in Chemical Engineering at Cambridge
includes high quality teaching, as well as varied methods
of assessment including practical classes and projects which
are run throughout the year.
Cambridge also has a different system for
entering the department. The first year of your study in Cambridge
will be either in Natural Sciences or general Engineering.
The theory behind this is to give a broad base to your understanding
of Chemical Engineering before entering the department. More
information on this can be found on the department site or
on the respective Natural Science and Engineering sites from
the Links table.
The Department
The Department itself is in the New Museums site in the center
of Cambridge. Within easy reach of all the central colleges
all teaching and practical's here in your Chemical Engineering
years. This means the department is your base for your final
3 years.
The Department is considered a very friendly
place by all. On the top floor there is a tearoom which is
used by all staff and students - and offers free tea during
morning and afternoon breaks.
There is also a specialist Chemical Engineering
library and Computer suite as well as all the Labs and workshops
for your time at Cambridge. All your learning needs are on
site and few find it necessary to stray to far from the department.
