Welcome to CUCrC Team Racing - Blues dinghy sailing at Cambridge University

Sailing is one of the many ancient traditions at Cambridge. The Cambridge University Cruising Club was formed in 1897, and 15 years later, in 1912, Sailing became a Blues Sport. Team racing is now the main form of inter-university competition, using Firefly dinghies.

The Cambridge squad consists of three teams, each competing on the University and Open circuit, BUSA (The British Universities Sailing Association) Championships, and Varsity. Training takes place three times per week in our six Fireflies at Grafham Water.

The Cambridge team has always been amongst the best university teams in the country, with three BUSA champion teams in the last decade and never failing to reach at least the quarter-finals in recent years.

Cambridge hosts an annual event, the Cam Cup, during the Lent Term. This year it will be held on the 28th Feb/1st Mar. Entires are by invitation only. On the Saturday, the annual dinner will be held at New Hall. For further information, please contact the Cam Cup Coordinator.

The annual Varsity Match against Oxford is sailed in three-man keel boats, at a different venue each year. Recent hosts include the Island Sailing Club, the Royal London Yacht Club, the Royal Southern Yacht Club and West Kirby Sailing Club. This year's Varsity Match will be held at Itchenor Sailing Club on the 8th/9th/10th of July. Alumni are welcome to attend.
