Minutes of the CUC council meeting 16/6/06 Present- Richard Hewitt (Taizé), Will Carroll (convenor), Gordon Lawrence, Emma Riseborough (council elected), Giles Parkinson (Fisher House), Richard Smith, Emma Hancox (secretary) Apologies- Jenny Auton (Treasurer), Steven Cooper (CCMS) 1) Opened in prayer 2) Matters arising . Methsoc Colleges' walk- an email needs to be sent to the CUC email list advertising this. . Rounders- Anthony will provide equipment. Meet at Churchill college at 3pm, 20th June. An email needs to be sent out and should also mention that rounders will be over in time for football. . Freshers' fayre- Will Carroll is trying to find out why he is not able to register a stall as manager of CUC. Gordon has things to be used at the Freshers' fayre, he will meet Will to pass them on. We will need booklets and term cards which will need printing over the summer. Stephen Cooper was in charge of printing last year. We need to ask him where he printed them. We will need 150-200 booklets. . Ceilidh- A venue needs to be found. We could use Wesley church but we might have to pay. If we speak to Fr Alban it might be possible to get Fisher Hall for free. The ceilidh should happen on either a Thursday or Friday night. Steven Cooper has some friends who could lead the ceilidh, otherwise it might be possible to get the university ceilidh band for free if the event is raising money for charity. We need to find out on what terms the university ceilidh band play for free. A possible charity to raise money for is Jimmy's night shelter. . Unity service- A venue needs to be found, potentially Emmanuel United Reformed church. The advantage of this is that if we are unable to provide refreshments in the church, we could book a room in Pembroke College. . Finding a new senior treasurer- we need to get on with asking people about this. . Change of bank account- At the last meeting it was suggested that the CUC bank account should be moved to the Co-operative. Giles expressed concern at some of the Co-op's social doctrine. It was decided that we would ask Jenny Auton to look into the ethical implications of different banks and that other people could do their own research. Following this, a more informed discussion could take place at the next meeting. . Prayer card- Giles showed us a prayer card emphasising unity in the Church that we could hand out and ask CUC members to pray. Giles will try to find out where the prayer comes from. It was agreed that it would be a good idea to print the unity prayer on the term card. 3) AOB . New Taizé rep- Richard Hewitt will try to find one, possibly Elisabeth Rutherford or Clare McQuitty. . A new Methsoc rep needs to be found. . Subs probably need to be caught up on. . Fusion rep- Will will check that Ruth is receiving emails from CUC. . Next term's meeting will be on the Sunday afternoon before Freshers' week. 4) Closed with the Grace.
