SCC meeting, 11.6.03

Present: Carys (SCM), Alex (Ark), Ed (Fisher Society), Josh (Taizé worship group), Chris (Methsoc), David (Lutheran), Bex (Fusion)

The meeting began at 1220 with a prayer led by Carys

CARYS to email Krastu to find out who is the Orthsoc rep at the moment

 

2. Minutes of the last meeting and matters arising:

 

- Unity Prayers

Fisher House is impractical due to their lunchtime mass. Other possible venues to be explored:

            Trinity side chapel (CARYS to speak to Ruth)

            Michaelhouse (JOSH)

            Robinson (BEX)

            Christ's (ED)

 

We need flexibility for different societies (e.g. a piano for CCMS) but a regular venue would be good.

First unity-prayer of next term to take place at 1.15 on Wednesday 15.10.

CARYS to approach Ruth to try to book Trinity side-chapel.

Details of service and venue for the rest of term to be discussed at the first meeting of next term.

 

- Punt Race

Rules (paddling, finishing point etc.) to be sorted out on the day. Teams can be formed on the day if there are not enough people from one society.

 

3. Freshers' Arrangements

 

- CUSU Societies' Fair (Tue 7 - Wed 8.10)

 

CARYS to get in touch with Gavin and Craig Wilkie to sort out access to the CUSU societies' directory

CARYS to book a stall.

Rota to be sorted at the beginning of next term.

 

- Literature:

CARYS to co-ordinate revision of 'What's Christian in Cambridge?'

CARYS to email files to Josh

JOSH to upload onto web for people to check and give comments.

EVERYONE to email Carys with comments

 

Unitarians to be included on the list of churches if they wish - JOSH to email to check.

 

BEX to design fliers/poster for the unity prayers

CARYS to email SCC logo

 

- SCC Societies' Fair

 

CARYS to contact Ruth about booking Trinity ante-chapel on the afternoon of Sunday 12.10

BEX to design posters/fliers

CARYS to contact Deans and Chaplains to get information about the different chaplaincies and invite them to do a stall

CARYS to ask CiCCU exec. if they want to do a stall

 

** All literature/publicity to be emailed to JOSH to upload onto the website for others to give feedback. Before July 20th if possible, or else it won't get done until September!) **

 

Relevant fliers and information to be given to Deans and Chaplains 2 weeks before term starts to allow distribution to freshers.

 

4. Bank account.

 

Smile don't do society accounts; Co-op charge 60p for a cheque.

JOSH to open account at the Cambridge Building Society

Josh and Ruth to be signatories; one signature needed to withdraw money.

 

5. Week of Prayer for Christian Unity

 

CHRIS to book Wesley for a service at 7.30 on Tue 20.1.04

Service to be included on literature handed out at societies' fair.

JOSH to contact theological federation to invite them.

 

6. Meeting groundrules.

 

Agendas to be sent to email list at least 48 hours before the meeting.

Paper copies of agendas and minutes to be brought to meetings.

Minutes to contain a clear record of decisions and action points

Date/time of meeting to be set at previous meeting whenever possible.

 

7. Next meeting:

 

3pm on Sunday 5.10 in Fisher House Library.

ED to email directions for the uninitiated.

Literature to be photocopied to be brought to this meeting.

8. The meeting ended at 1.30 with the Grace
