Mithun Kumaran President
Hi! I’m Mithun and I am the President of BioSoc this year. I am a third year medic and my job is to invite external speakers to discuss their research to our members as well as taking an active role to make sure the different aspects of the society run well. The ways in which BioSoc allows the members of the science community at Cambridge to connect with distinguished scientists of their fields drew me to the society in the first place and I hope to continue this as well as improve the society.
Rosie Thistlethwayte Vice-President
I’m Rosie, a second-year Bio NatSci and the current BioSoc Vice President. I think that BioSoc is a great opportunity for Biologists and people doing other subjects to expand their interests - especially as Biology can become so modular. I hope that I will be able to continue the great work from last year’s committee and organise some more interesting talks, workshops and also social events! I would like to make the talks as accessible as possible to a wide range of people, so let me know if there is a particular speaker/ topic that you would like to see.

You can also find me helping out at BioSoc talks. We hope you join us for what will be an exciting year! Please feel free to contact me with any questions!
Cheryl Jiang Sponsorship Director
I am Cheryl Jiang, the sponsorship director. It is my job to make ask sponsors for financial support so we would have enough funding for our events. I love that the talks hosted by Biosoc give me a chance to catch a glimpse of the cutting-edge techniques and creative research ideas leading the field. I hope to get a PhD and become a biomedical researcher in the future with the goal of finding better treatments for diseases. In my free time I really enjoy baking cakes, with my favorite cakes being red velvet and lava cakes.
Katy Addison Membership Secretary
I’m Katy , a second year BioNatSci . With an excessive first year work load, bionatsci can become something of a chore. The fascinating BioSoc talks reminded me of my love for the subject. I want to share this hub of biological enthusiasm to the rest of Cambridge !!
Jia Jun Lee Social Secretary
I’m JJ, a first year Bio NatSci student from Singapore and BioSoc’s new Social Secretary! My main role is to organise social events. I’m thankful for BioSoc as it is an excellent platform for you to get to know more biology enthusiasts, to find out more about research projects being done today that will have great impacts on our lives in the future, and most importantly, to learn more about the beauty of Biology.
