How do I get involved?

If you would like to be involved in BioSoc, there are three main ways you can do this:

Membership

As a member of the society you will receive free admission to all of the talks which are £1 each for non-members. Also, you will be able to come to our formal halls at a bargain price and all the other events that we organise.

There are two types of membership:

You can join at any of our talks or simply by contacting our membership secretary.

We also maintain a list of Directors of Studies who have expressed an interest in our activities. If this is applicable to you and you would like to receive information on upcoming talks and events, then please contact us with details of the department or area in which you are a Director of Studies.

Non-members

If you would like to be kept informed of our events and talks but do not wish to become a member, we can add you to our "interested" list. Please contact the membership secretary if you would like to be included.

College & Department Reps

In addition we are always looking for College and Department representatives who would be willing to put up materials publicising our talks in their colleges or departments. In return, Reps are offered one year's free annual membership.

Posters advertising our events are e-mailed out by our publicity officer to the relevant people in advance of the event. We then ask our Reps to print a few copies (printing costs will be reimbursed accordingly) and put them up in appropriate places around their college or deparment. If you would like to become one of these representatives, then please contact us and we will add you to the list of society representatives.

See the list of current reps.

Committee

We have an active committee for the 2008-09 academic year, but we will send out emails requesting new volunteers for committee positions when the time comes.
