Archery Etiquette
Here are a few basic rules which should be observed at tournaments and when shooting with other GNAS clubs. Thanks to Nathan Cubitt for providing them.
- If an archer damages another's arrow through his/her own carelessness, he/she pays for it on the spot.
- Never touch another archer's equipment without permission.
- Wait until all scores are taken before going behind the target to pick up arrows.
- Thanks the target captain at the end of the tournament for keeping the score.
- Do not talk in a loud voice or do anything that may disturb those who are shooting.
- Do not talk to another competitor who obviously prefers to be silent.
- Keep spare equipment handy and do not borrow from others.
- Never draw or pick up another's arrows unless asked to do so.
- Never walk up and down the shooting comparing other scoreboards.
- Remain on the shooting line if an archer in front or behind you you on your target is at full draw.
- Never leave an archer on his/her own on the shooting line.
- Do not go behind the target to retrieve your arrows before your score has been recorded.
- Do not leave litter.
- When calling scores does so in groups of three, for example, "7-7-5" pause "5-3-3."
