Members
of an Air Squadron are able to make use of all of the adventurous
training facilities that are available to regular service personnel.
They are used to engage in leadership training, team building, personal
development and, of course, to have fun!
The activities offered are wide ranging in their
content and location, with many over sea expeditions.
More often than not the activities are heavily subsidised, allowing
students to participate in activities which may otherwise
be prohibitively expensive.
The activities on offer include, but are not limited
to:
Free fall parachuting
Skiing (Alpine and Nordic)
Sailing (on and off shore)
Scuba diving
Paragliding
Hang gliding
Surfing
Gliding
Kayaking
Mountaineering
And even Dog Sledding
It is not necessary to have experience in any particular
activity to participate, as qualified supervisors and instructors
are present during all activities to offer instruction at all levels.
In fact, many Air Squadron members have attended courses at adventure
training centres world wide - leading to instructor qualifications.
They are then qualified to supervise others on subsequent expeditions.
CUAS prides itself in the amount of activities
its members organise and participate in. Last year alone members
have gone on a Squadron dog-sledding expedition, spent 17 days in Corsica
rock climbing and mountain walking, spent time climbing and kayaking in Wales, attended Joint
Services parachuting training courses, completed the difficult 'Tough Guy' assault course,
and more besides. This year plans include an
expedition to Bavaria as well as a huge variety of other activities.
