In 2008 we will be combining the Annual Dinner and Annual
General Meeting into a single event, where members running for
committee positions will have time to make brief speeches at the
start of the meal, and voting will take place at the end.
PRESIDENT
The President shall lead and manage the society whilst
delegating duties efficiently to the supporting committee.
The committee members shall in turn fulfil the roles they
accept when they are instituted to the best of their ability.

VICE PRESIDENT
The Vice-President shall support the President in the leadership
of the society and in the event of sickness, ill health or
absence for any reason shall temporarily fulfil the duties
expected of the President.
The Vice-President shall also fulfil the functions of
External Officer by seeking to build mutually beneficial
relations with Japan-related organisations as chosen at the
discretion of the committee. (contact

SECRETARY
The Secretary shall be responsible for communications between
the committee and members and the committee members themselves.
He/she shall take minutes at all official meetings and
distribute them so all committee members are fully informed of
current events and decisions.
He/she shall be responsible for maintenance of the
society mailing list and shall add and remove members in
compliance with the society constitution and the wishes of the
parties concerned.
The Secretary shall email all mailing list members once a week
to outline news and forthcoming events for each week. (contact

TREASURER
The Treasurer shall be responsible for the care of the society's
accounts and the expenditure and collection of funds therein.
The Treasurer shall seek to increase the society's
revenue by means in compliance with the law and safeguard
against over expenditure and bankruptcy.
The Treasurer shall be accountable to the committee and
society members for his/her management of the society funds.

PUBLICITY
The Publicity Officer shall be responsible for the society's
public image. He/she
shall promote both social and cultural events by all means
available and through this work to increase the society
membership. The
Publicity Officer shall actively aim to increase both the
society's Japanese and non-Japanese membership in good
proportion. He/she
shall also be responsible for suggesting and organising social
events for the society's members in full co-operation with the

WEBMASTER
The Webmaster shall be responsible for maintaining and updating
the society website.
He/she shall update the website with all relevant information
that the Secretary sends to the society mailing list, and shall
also upload any photos taken at society events. (contact
