Instead here is Ben Richardson's totally unbiased towards Churchill's account of the day, that really doesnt tell Oxford anything very useful at all, which just goes to show how excellent Rico's journalist skills are. To be fair I edited it to make it even more useless.
CUAC Sports, by Rico:
Another sunny day
greeted the athletes from Cambridge University for the second
inter-college championships of the year. As normal Jesus and
Churchill had very strong teams competing for them. In the male
competition highlights included:
In the 100m sleepy
Stevens (Sidney) was pipped to the line by Millar (Caius) who ran
11.5s. In the C race Churchill athlete Crittenden in his second
event of the day won beating fellow Churchill athlete Boyce.
The 400m A race
was of a high calibre as always, with Churchill Bulldogs Richardson
and Nefs unluckily beaten by Millar (Caius), Hutton-Williams (Emma)
and Owen (Sel) who won in a blistering 50.000s (inaccurate to all but the only correct digit).
In the two 800m
races there were exceptional races by Woodland (Churchill), Colam
(Churchill) and Dwain Bristow (Churchill). Mention should also go to
Jon Cook (Jesus) for winning the A race by almost 2 seconds. Dwain and Jon were then 3rd and 2nd
respectively in the 1500m with James Kelly winning in around 4 minutes, maybe a bit more/less.
In the field there
was a very high standard pole vault with an average 2.75m being
jumped. Collins (Trinity) won and Churchill athlete Crittenden
jumped 1.60m on his first time holding such a big pole. Also Adeyemi
(Churchill) powered to a win in the long jump with 12.88m.
The most eventful
event of the day was certainly the 110m hurdles. Molacek (Trinity)
was assaulted early on in the race by Wheeler (Clare) and Petsas
(St. Ed) and had to drop out. The race then hotted up between
Wheeler and Petsas with both athletes neck and neck. Unfortunately
Wheeler then harassed, molested and manually suppressed a hurdle and
therefore became disqualified leaving Petsas to run through the line
in first.
In the female
competition highlights included:
Agbo (Trinity)
setting an undergrad record in the 200m hurdles and beating 3 men.
Women’s Captain
Hackney (Jesus) returning to competing with a time quicker than it take to microwave a hotdog in the 100m.
Keen (New Hall)
also set a new undergrad record in the 2km steeplechase.
Many new p.b.s
were set including Palmer (Downing) in the Javelin (>3m), and
Churchill athletes Divin (hammer and discus), Workman (pole vault)
and Khoo (100m).
At the end of the day
Churchill men were unlucky not to win the match achieving an
incredible 76 points. Trinity came second with 181 points and Jesus
came first with 195, so well done to them for beating such amazing
teams like Churchill. In the women Churchill came joint seventh, St
Catz came second with 48 and Jesus came first again with 203 points.
Well done to everyone
who competed. I hope you all enjoyed it and didn’t get too sun
burnt.
