Floodlight Appeal - Help Needed
From the President:
Dear CUAC,
You're all aware that at the Wilberforce Road track, we don't have
floodlights. And yet we need them. At long last, Cambridge University Sport
have a planning application ready and waiting to be accepted by Cambridge
City Council - the only problem being a few disgruntled residents on
Wilberforce Road standing in its way.
To combat this, the Committee urges each and every member of our club to
write a letter of support for the floodlight proposal to Paul Johnson, of
the Planning and Building Control Department at the Council. The letters
need not be lengthy or eloquent, but simple, and to the point...
What do floodlights mean to you?
To answer this, there are two options for registering your support - the
first is by writing an old fashioned letter to:
Mr Paul Johnson,
Planning and Building Control,
Cambridge City Council,
Cambridge,
CB2 3QJ
*quoting the Registration Number 07/0939/FUL*
and the second is by using the online facility on the Cambridge City
Council website www.cambridge.gov.uk - through the Planning and Building
Control section, and then the Public Access application. This is very easy
to use - just make sure you quote the Registration Number (07/0939/FUL),
and then click the "submit comments" box above the proposal details. (I
have also been informed that there is a time-out procedure, so it is
suggested that you write your supportive comments in Word, or something
similar, and then cut and paste them into the comments box, otherwise
you're liable to lose them!)
Please could everyone who writes a letter of support, over the internet, or
on paper, use their Cambridge address (your college one), as this will lend
your comments added weight in the application process.
Remember, these floodlights are for your benefit, and it would be a great
shame to CUAC, University sport, and athletics in general if this
application were to be rejected because not enough support was registered
against the local opposition.
According to the Director of Cambridge Sport, if this application fails,
there won't be another one for at least 30 years.
We hope you have time to support the proposal. If you have any questions,
please give one of us an email.
