Committee 2008-2009
 
• President: Joe Kuo (jchk3@cam.ac.uk)

The president is the figurehead and representative of the committee and oversees and directs the operations of the organisation. He organises meetings, mediates debates, motivates team members and allocates tasks to appropriate committee members. Furthermore the president formulates and implements strategies aimed at the improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the organisation.


• Vice President: Hao Du and Yanghong Ding (hd272@cam.ac.uk,yd227@cam.ac.uk)

The vice presidents are also active in all areas of the committee, helping out departments under pressure. They advise and help the president and other committee members in making decisions as well as communicating decisions between the president and appropriate committee members, therefore coordinating the work between members to ensure tasks are fulfilled efficiently. The vice presidents may also oversee activities of a particular section of the committee in more detail than the president himself.

• Junior Treasurer: Mia Liu (ml475@cam.ac.uk)
The responsibility of a treasurer in general is to give feedbacks and advice to committee members the account situation at any time. She keeps records of the society’s accounts and works closely with all officers to ensure correct use of funds. She is responsible for budgetary projections and works to minimize operational costs.

• Secretary: Mike Hao Yang (hy256@cam.ac.uk)
Along with the president and vice presidents, she makes up the executive committee. Her roles include:
   1.taking minutes in committee meetings
   2.writing to-do-lists along with the president for everyone
   3.coordinating the executive and general committees
   4.keeping records of different documents
   5.assisting other committee members in their roles
• External Officer: June Wong (kw312@cam.ac.uk)
The primary role of the External officer is to find sponsorships for the CNYT, a very challenging yet rewarding job. She has to contact a vast array of companies and organisations, patiently and politely introduce the CNYT to them and hope for a contribution of some sort! Once sponsorship has been obtained she is also responsible for maintaining contact with the sponsor to keep them updated on the CNYT’s activities and progress.

• Entertainment Officers: Wilma Shi, Tinnie Chau and Philippa Burg

The entertainment team is responsible for the planning and organisation of the entertainment at the CNY ball.
   1.The three entz officers will be working closely from the planning stages towards final production, which includes item proposals, costume production and hire, performer recruitment and rehearsals. The performance lasts about two hours for the ball.
   2.Basically run the show on the stage. Starting with designing the program as a team, coming up with ideas, looking for performers, choreographers, costumes, item leaders etc followed by organizing auditions, supervising various rehearsals and in charge of the final entertainment on the day of the ball.

• Aesthetics Officer: Wen-Xi Chen (wxc21@cam.ac.uk)
The aesthetics officer works to realise the theme of the ball. Her jobs include:
   1.Design of tickets
   2.Design of advertisement posters and flyers
   3.Design of charity run t-shirts
   4.Displays at Fresher’s Fair.
   5.Decoration of venue of the ball.
Her tasks will involve close work with publicity, ticketing and external officers.

• F&B Officer: Hong Sheng Lim (hsl26@cam.ac.uk)
The F&B officer is responsible for the management of food and beverages provided at the ball.
This means involves close work with the logistic officers, in tasks such as hiring dinnerware, table setting, and the recruitment of helpers/waiter/waitresses. He will also be looking to find the best dishes to match the theme of this year’s ball.

• Logistics Officer: Tony Tang, Kan Lu (tangjiong1@googlemail.com,kl329@cam.ac.uk)
The logistics officers have a wide variety of tasks related to the running of CNY events, in particular the charity run and CNY ball. Tasks include:
   1.Investigating possible venues for the ball, hiring out the venue.
   2.Handling paperwork such as legal documents required for serving food/beverages, health        and safety measures and communication with city council.
   3.Organisation of activities at events such as the ball and run.
   4.Organisation of delivery of things such furniture and entertainment systems to be used at        the ball. (hiring of such equipment is also the responsibility of the logistics officers)

• Ticketing Officer: Qia Li (ql232@cam.ac.uk)
   1.Designing Tickets
   2.Liaison with publicity officers to market tickets
   3.Dealing with all the ticket booking and seating request
   4.Liase with treasurer for the cheque payments
   5.Issuing tickets
   6.Allocation of seats
   7.Reception and non-dining tickets

• Publicity Officer: Yuting Sun (ys323@cam.ac.uk)
The job of the publicity officer is to make the good cause of CNYT known to every single person in Cambridge and beyond! This is done through a number of means:
   1.Distribution of flyers, posters etc
   2.Organisation of fresher’s fair
   3.Design and update of CNYT website
   4.Spreading the good word of the CNYT to friends/family.
She will also work with the external officer on matters of sponsorship.

• Webmaster: Min Li (ml478@cam.ac.uk)
The role of the webmaster is to maintain the CNY website and the mailing list. This includes design and construction of web pages (Html skill required), information update in the web pages, mailing list administration and additional IT support to the committees. He will also work closely with publicity and aesthetics and help them in their roles.

•Casino Manager: Amar Shah,Su Liu(as793@cam.ac.uk,sl451@cam.ac.uk)

Responsibilities of the Casino Riviera Manager involves all aspects of casino operations from securing contracts with clients to the running ofthe casino sub-committee.

The Casino Manager organises meetings, training sessions for croupiers, allocate tasks to committee members, and is the mastermind behind the running of the casino during the big nights.
