About Us

The Cambridge Neurological Society aims to promote Neurology and Neurosurgery as clinical specialities and as areas of research within the University of Cambridge.

We organise talks, workshops and other activities for students, so we can explore our interest in the intriguing world of neurology.

It's open to students at any stage in medicine who are interested in neuroscience or neurology and indeed anyone else from the University of Cambridge or Addenbrooke's Hospital.

Most of our events are held inside the Clinical School at Addenbrookes and it is best for people who are unfamiliar with the building to ask at the reception desk. Occasionally the venue names are abbreviated (e.g. LT2 for lecture theatre 2) but the staff at reception will be able to direct you to the correct destination.

Lumbar Puncture Rota - New Rota

The CNS has liased with the neurology department to give all medical students a chance to do lumbar punctures on real patients. We believe this is a excellent opportunity to put everything you have learnt in clinical skills into practice and a great chance to gain experience for when you qualify.

We have made a doodle poll for students to sign up. In the interests of allowing as many people the opportunity to practice their LPs you can only sign up for one day during the three week block. On the day you have signed up for you will have to be avaliable from 9am - 3pm on that particular day. Please leave both your full name and email address when you sign up.

Sign up deadline is 6pm on the Friday before the start of the week you are signing up for.

On the day you have sign up for please ring ext: 2021 after 9am and find out where the LP clinic is located as this changes on a daily basis. You will also need to ask when the nurses would like you to come to the clinic, as this may vary depending on the number of patients they have.

Mary and Prem are the two nurses in charge of the student LP rota.

The sign up poll can be found here:
