Workshop Notes from Alan Dunnett:
The course is for directors who want to learn how to direct actors. Actors
would probably find it useful also.
It would be useful if participants formed pairs or trios and
chose a screenplay excerpt as a vehicle for the work. We'll carry out a
simple acting exercise which does not require acting ability, only
willingness! It will then be easy to reflect on story-telling and narrative
line.
The excerpt should be short (1-2mins) and contain the same number of
characters as people in the group. Any writers out there could bring their
own work but really anything which each group likes is fine. It would be
best if people could agree who's with who and have chosen an excerpt
beforehand. In a nutshell, we will get somewhere whatever but will go
further if there's a little preparation!
