SUMMARY OF MINUTES FROM MEETING ON 31/10/06
| Present: | | Brian Lavery, Rob Petit,
Rachel Powell, Bella Wing-Davey, Kirsty Dootson,
Jenny Chamarette, Lydia Bell |
Apologies: | | Chris Chau |
- Society Officers
§ We have appointed Rachel Powell Secretary.
§ We appointed Soheila Sokhavari to the new position
of Graphics Designer. This will be a full committee position.
§ We agreed to appoint Salih Sheikh from Homerton to be
Technical Officer. He has said that he is happy to store the equipment out at Homerton
and bring it in to people who ask to borrow it.
§ There has been no word from Chris or Meg. Brian
is going to send a final ultimatum email to Chris, asking whether he wishes
to resign as Treasurer.
§ We appointed some more College Reps and will
shortly publish all the Reps on the website. The College Reps will be regarded as
part of the Extended Committee but will not be expected to attend weekly committee
meetings.
- Freshers' 48-hour Competition
§ Kirsty, Jenny, Rachel and Lydia will judge.
§ We will show Michael Axelgaard's half hour film
'The Inheritance of Mark Gavin' in the interval whilst we judge.
- Newspaper Articles
§ Varsity Varsity accepted a response article,
for the Arts Column, written by Lydia and Rob. Bella will contact the Varsity online
editor, who had shown some interest in doing something on Cinecam.
- Funding
Bella will look into CUSU funding.
- Social Screenings
We agreed to show 'Intacto' on 6th November and 'Ghost World' on 27th November, both in
Brian's room in King's. We are rescheduling the screening of 'Requiem' to 13th November
but await confirmation from Vertigo.
- Editing Facilities
Lydia reported that there are 3 computers in the PWF which have Final Cut Express installed.
Users would need to bring their own external hard-drives, as the PWF only allocates 500MB of
space. There is also one licence for Final Cut Studio, which is owned by CARET and could be
withdrawn at any time.
- Equipment
§ We agreed that, if another society wishes to borrow
our equipment, rather than an individual Cinecam member, we would let them do so for
£6/day. Cinecam members would always be given preference, however.
§ Members are allowed to borrow a camera for as long
as they want, if no-one else wants it. However, if someone has been borrowing a camera for more
than 5 days and someone else asks for it, then that person must return it as soon as
possible.
- Meeting with SOC DOC SOC
Subsequent to Brian's and Rob's meeting with SOC DOC SOC, we agreed that we would allow
SOC DOC SOC members to become Cinecam full members for a reduced price of £12. (The
price of half membership would still be £5.) We are also considering having a 48-hour
or other joint competition with them next term.
