SUMMARY OF MINUTES FROM MEETING ON 26/01/06

Present: Lucia Yandoli, Amy Maher, Meg Blight, Jenny Leow, Kiera Jamison, Lydia Bell
Apologies: Henry Lau, Brian Lavery

  1. Scriptwriting Competition
A shortlist of 5 scripts was drawn up and a final decision will be reached by committee vote next week. Funding and other issues will be discussed after the winning script has been selected. The winning script will be posted on the website so that people interested in being on the crew may read it.

  2. Tuesday Film Evenings
Decided that the next screening will be Derek Jarman's 'Last of England' (by request). Kiera, Lucia and possibly Amy will attend.

  3. Festival
§  Apple may give us a video iPod for a prize, some financial sponsorship and a Final Cut Pro video-editing masterclass. This is subject to us having an Apple 'stall' outside the festival entrance.
§  Black Pig (company) may sponsor the festival.
§  Posters will now cost £60 for 100 glossies.
§  Meg will contact restaurants about sponsorship.
§  Script editor, Vicky, will give a talk on Saturday 11th March in the afternoon or evening. Meg will try to get formal hall tickets for Lucia, Meg and Vicky.
§  We have 4 festival volunteers.
§  Kiera will write an article for TCS in the next couple of weeks.

  4. Society Name
Two variants - Cinecam and CineCam - seem to appear with similar frequency. We voted and concluded that henceforth the official name of the society will be Cinecam.

  5. Editing Facilities
§  Bjoern at CUSP, with the head of the Italian Society, have approached the Computing Service with our request for a computer, with editing software, that would be accessible to our societies' members. There will probably be only 1 computer and it won't be available until October.
§  We have also contacted Societies Technical Service, which has a building on New Museums Site and they are considering getting us some software. We will need to arrange a booking system with them.

  6. Buying Equipment
Henry will purchase a boom this weekend, cost £70-£80.

  7. Committee Meetings
A summary of each committee meeting will be posted on the website.

  8. Brickhouse Collaboration
Meg and Lucia will draw up a contract with Brickhouse at 5pm on Friday 27th.
